At Heartland Alliance, I served as producer, in collaboration with filmmaker Warren Williams on a series of videos for the organization’s annual fundraising event. Each video profiled a client participant of Heartland Alliance. In this video, Ateeq shares his immigration story as a refugee from Afghanistan and how he received critical assistance through through Heartland Alliance’s job training program upon his arrival in Chicago.

At the ACLU of Illinois, I assisted with the planning and production for a series of video testimonials as part of the “Put Patients First” campaign. This advocacy campaign was in support of legislation that is now Illinois state law which prohibits health care providers from denying critical services or information to patients due to the religious beliefs of the provider. Mindy shares her story of being denied proper treatment for a miscarriage at a hospital that follows religious restrictions – an experience that placed her life and health at unnecessary risk.

This advocacy campaign was in support of legislation that is now Illinois state law which prohibits health care providers from denying critical services or information to patients due to the religious beliefs of the provider. At the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, I served as producer, in collaboration with videographer Frey Hoffman, to create an educational video about living with HIV and the importance of knowing one’s status for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. This video was screened within Illinois Department of Corrections facilities.
